Leading Off (12/23/16)

Cowboys clinch NFC East title. And as the No. 1 overall seed, they’ll have a bye week in the first round and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Oh, and the Eagles knocked off the Giants, the only team to beat the Cowboys this season.
Fort Worth is in the spotlight right now. Two protests were planned Thursday night, after a video of a Fort Worth police officer wrestling a black woman to the ground and then detaining her and her two teenage daughters went viral. With a crowd of about 150, the protests merged into one around 7 p.m. Thursday at the Tarrant County Courthouse. Speakers urged unity, calming the protestors.
A Fort Worth man was arrested in Colorado on Thursday and held on a warrant of capital murder in the deaths of his wife and 3-month-old son, who died from neck wounds last week. Craig Allen Vandewege, who was initially stopped for speeding, remains in a Colorado jail on a $1 million bond.
If Clark Griswold were an Aggie … he’d live in this North Dallas home. If maroon-and-white Christmas lights set to the Aggie War Hymn are your thing, put this display (also known as Lights on Orangewood) on your must-see list.
Happy holidays! D Magazine world headquarters will be closed through Jan. 2 for holiday break. In the meantime, here are 100 things to do and 101 things to eat to celebrate. We wish you and your family a restful, peaceful holiday.
